Prototype Starship, which will be used to travel to Mars, exploded during tests at a test site in the Boca Chica region of the U.S. state of Texas. Video of the broadcast is available on the website of the company SpaceX, which is engaged in this development.

After about 5 minutes after launch, the ship reached the target altitude and began a smooth descent. However, it exploded on contact with the pad at the landfill. The reason of unsuccessful landing was the emergency shutdown of Raptor’s rocket engine.

As REGNUM IA reported, the U.S. company Blue Origin held successful tests of the engine BE-7 on December 6. It is planned to use it in the landing module for the lunar program.
